How Will You Market My Business?

We use a well-proven and tested process that entails understanding the profile, structure, and positioning of your business. We want to know who your customers are and how you reach them. Who your competitors are and how to beat them. How well are you known and what image do you have in your marketplace. What sets you apart from your competitors, and what can be done to add value to grow the business and increase sales. Once we have a solid understanding of your operation, we then formulate a marketing strategy that meets the unique requirements for selling your business. Given the need for confidentiality, we only deploy the most discreet methods to identify and secure buyers.

How much do you think I should ask for my business?

We highly recommend that you obtain an independent market valuation analysis for your business. A third-party firm is engaged that eliminates the potential for conflicts of interest with the business owner and business broker. This is important, as it helps to justify the price to both buyers and lenders. We can suggest reliable and high integrity firms we work with or you can find your own valuation company to carry out this task …the choice is yours. Either way, having a professional market valuation available is a powerful tool to add legitimacy to your price and deters a potential buyer from making an unreasonable offer for your business. Remember, for an independent and objective valuation to be valid you are advised that using your own CPA firm would not be classified by buyers or lending institutions as objective.

How will you show my business?

If a buyer expresses interest in your business they will need to sign a Warranty and Non-Disclosure document before we share any detailed financial or business information with them. Prior to this event, we have already prepared a Confidential Memorandum, which is a critical marketing tool and enhances the presentation of vital business information. Once the Buyer has satisfied themselves that they wish to continue the process, we will then arrange for a meeting for you to get to know each other. At this stage the selling tempo quickens. The Buyer will expect to visit the business premises and exchange information with you. We will be by your side all the way to coordinate the process along. Assuming the buyer is pleased with what they see and indicates a willingness to proceed, we will ask them to sign an Offer to Purchase, or a Letter of Intent with an Earnest Money Deposit, before we divulge any further information to the prospective buyer about your business.

Do you cooperate with other business brokers?

Absolutely, we are affiliated with the country's largest network, Business Brokers NetworkSM and other networks of brokers. We can identify buyers from across the nation. In addition, we are also in touch with other colleagues, brokers, and investment bankers through our own professional network. A buyer may come from anywhere and we have access to all possible channels.

Will you display my business on any Internet sites?

Yes, but only in a very discreet way. There will be no reference to your business name or other details that might be used to identify you or your business, especially to those in the local community. We also have our own web site where we list businesses for sale, as well as being members of numerous advertising websites.

How often will you contact me about what is going on?

Generally, we will keep in touch at last once a week. However, once a buyer has been identified this frequency will naturally increase as activity builds up toward the closing. You are also encouraged to contact us anytime to discuss the listing or any other matter of concern to you. We will respond as quickly as possible.
